The AT-VM95E/H combo kit includes the AT-VM95E cartridge pre-installed in the AT-HS6BK universal headshell holder with 1/2-inch cartridge mount. Cartridge with a needle with an elliptical profile AT-VM95E is the second model in the VM95 series of cartridges from a well-known Japanese company. The cartridge's elliptical stylus with 0.3 x 0.7 mil radii tracks the recording groove with high precision for superior sound reproduction.

In all VM cartridges, instead of using one large magnet, two V-shaped magnets are used, which correspond to the positions of the left and right channels of the stereo recording groove, providing excellent channel separation and extended frequency response. The special design of the cartridge coil provides a powerful output level of 4.0 mV.

The needle is not made of a solid diamond, but of a combination of a steel needle and a tiny, elliptically sharpened diamond attached to its tip. From the point of view of reliability, this design is no worse than a needle made of solid diamond, but it is usually used in pickups of a low price category. The elliptical stylus is more subject to the influence of the place of placement, so it needs more precise and careful adjustment, first of all, the vertical tracking angle (VTA). The needle holder (cantilever) in this model is made of aluminum, its tube has a regular straight shape.

And since all VM95 series cartridges share the same body, the stylus can be replaced with any of the AT-VMN95's six interchangeable styluses. For elliptic sharpening, it is recommended to change the stylus to a new one after 300 hours of use.

The lightweight AT-HS6BK headshell with a standard SME-type 4-pin connector with a diameter of 8mm is compatible with a wide range of tonearms. Cast aluminum housing reduces unnecessary vibrations. A wire with highly reliable gold-plated contacts is used for the connection between the head shell and the cartridge.
